When you’re on stage there is one person you could not be without, they are invaluable – the prompt.

This person has the task of sitting in the dark behind set with a small torch, remaining hidden from audience view and being the safety net for the cast. A prompts job is to attend towards the end of the rehearsal period to get to know the actors individual pauses, speed of delivery etc alongside helping them with a small prompt when a word or line is forgotten. It is a task which requires concentration, focus and a subtle voice so that a prompt can be discreet if required on a performance night.
